The Wall of Wind at Florida International University’s wind research lab can simulate up to a Category 5 hurricane to test building materials and techniques. The entire facility covers 74,200 sq. ft. to provide room for construction of test structures, staff offices, control room, test viewing room and secure space around the building to prevent wind and debris from affecting other buildings.
