Exciting News for METALfab 2017!
KEITH MAJKA, NOMMA PRESIDENT
some exciting news that I can now share.
You may have been hearing about NOMMA
co-locating METALfab with the American
Fence Association (AFA)'s FENCETECH for
2017. I can now confirm that what you've been
hearing is true. The contracts are signed, and
we are on board with AFA to have our trade
shows housed in the same venue. The benefits
for NOMMA are significant, and the board
of directors and I are confident that this is
something very constructive for NOMMA. The
opportunity to reach a far greater attendee
audience than we have experienced in the past
will give NOMMA exposure to people who
may not know who we are and what we are
about. AFA has consistently attracted over
4,000 attendees at FENCETECH, and that is
far greater than what we've experienced at
METALfab. The expansive convention hall
floor will give vendors greater exposure, and
we feel that those vendors who have not exhibited at METALfab recently will return.
The location city for METALfab 2017 is San
Antonio, Texas. San Antonio is a beautiful city
with accommodations, attractions, and dining
experiences that are some of the best in the
THIS PRESIDENT'S COLUMN COMES
country. The downtown and River Walk areas
will give attendees plenty of options to enjoy.
NOMMA's host hotel will be the Marriott
Riverwalk, and next to the hotel is the Henry B.
Gonzalez Convention Center where METALfab
and FENCETECH will take place. Located on
the River Walk, this location will give everyone
the chance to take in the sights.
Now, with that said, it is important for me to
take this chance to emphasize that NOMMA is
not merging with AFA but only co-locating the
two trade shows together in the same venue.
The board of directors and I have no intention
of anything more. The needs and wishes of
membership have been considered throughout
the decision making process. The integrity
and identity of NOMMA will be preserved and
maintained as it exists now. This co-location
does nothing to change that.
To that I will add, that while on the same
trade show floor as AFA's FENCETECH,
NOMMA's METALfab will keep its identity
and brand intact. We will have a NOMMA
exhibit at the front of the hall with photos of
past Top Job winners and a special NEF auction item on display. This will attract attendees
and direct them to the NOMMA pavilion on
the trade show floor. The NOMMA pavilion
will display Top Job contest submissions and
NEF auction items for attendees to view. The
pavilion will present NOMMA to a new audience and market. NOMMA and AFA work
in allied industries and contacts that each
organization possesses can be shared on
projects that each organization works on. It
is a symbiotic relationship that needs to be
explored and utilized. This arrangement should
present NOMMA with new opportunities and
open new vistas to practice our trade. We will
also attract AFA members and others to join
NOMMA and expand membership.
Mark your calendar to attend METALfab on
February 1-5, 2017. NOMMA will have a hospitality suite on the first night on the first floor
in the Marriott. Meet everyone there and be
prepared for an experience that is "History in
the Making." That is the theme for METALfab
2017, because we believe that this event will
truly be historic. This is a METALfab you don't
want to miss!
In closing, I am sure that our members from
the Lone Star State will make sure that we
have a good time and that we will certainly
remember more than just the Alamo!
