❱❱ MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT PESTWORLD FOCUSING ON THE BUSINESS OF PEST MANAGEMENT Far From Ordinary BY CHUCK TINDOL, ALLGOOD PEST SOLUTIONS 2016-2017 NPMA PRESIDENT I '' am truly honored to serve you and our industry as this year's NPMA president. Many of you are aware that my father, Bubba Tindol, and grandfather, Red Tindol, both served as president of NPCA. (NPMA was formerly known as the National Pest Control Association-or NPCA.) In fact, PestWorld will be celebrated in Seattle this October at the same hotel and location of my dad's convention in 1989. As we begin this year, I would like to express my sincere gratitude and well wishes to Bob Rosenberg for all he has done for our industry over his many years at NPMA. I'm equally excited about our new CEO, Dominique Stumpf, and her dedication to our industry. She brings a new energy and we can trust that our industry is in good hands for the future. In addition, Russ Ives has done a remarkable job as president this year through the transition. It's been a learning experience for me observing his calm, strategic approach to leadership. Industry leaders, manufacturers, distributors and NPMA staff just returned from the P3 Summit in Coral Gables, Florida. The meeting was three days of intense reflection on where we are and where we're going as an association and an industry. The information is being collected and we will share our new vision and direction with the Board for further discussion and approval at Academy in Orlando. I'm also pleased to report a renewed focus on our mentoring program. Our new database and website allow us to facilitate both formal and informal mentoring opportunities. I have participated in the past as both a mentor and a mentee, and found great value and lasting friendships through the programs. We'll roll out our new program and opportunities at Academy this month. (More reasons why you should be there!) Finally, 80 percent of our current membership is comprised of small PMPs- companies that yield less than $500,000 in annual revenue. Many of those members come through joint state memberships and are unaware of the value of their NPMA memberships. We may not even fully understand all that we need to be doing to help their businesses. Through the new database and website, we can better track our touches with each member to understand what services are most utilized and where to push information they are interested in. I would also like to establish a taskforce consisting of small PMPs to find out how we can better serve them. This year will be far from ordinary in our association's history. We have a new CEO, a newly operational database and website, and a new strategic plan. I'm really excited to be part of an outstanding leadership team, along with Russ Ives, Bryan Cooksey, Dennis Jenkins and Chris Gorecki. We're ready for the challenges this year will bring. ● This year will be far from ordinary in our association's history. We have a new CEO, a newly operational database and website, and a new strategic plan." 8 | PEST WORLD > JULY / AUGUST 2016 Published for: National Pest Management Association 10460 North Street, Fairfax, VA 22030 (703) 352-6762 or (800) 678-6722 Fax: (703) 352-3031 Professional and member website: Consumer website: Chief Executive Officer: Dominique Stumpf, CMP, CAE Editor: Janay Rickwalder, CAE Published by: Naylor, LLC 5950 NW 1st Place Gainesville, FL 32607 (800) 369-6220 or (352) 332-1252 Fax: (352) 331-3525 Publisher: Pam Blasetti Project Manager: Josh Abramowitz Editor: Robin Lamerson Marketing Associate: Kevin Tran Publication Director: Shane Holt Advertising Representative: Matt Wooten Layout and Pagination: Dan Proudley PUBLISHED JULY 2016/NPMAS0416/3806 ©2016 Naylor Association Solutions.
