the prospective employee has been in the
workforce less than seven years. QualityPro
v4 required 15 years, but seven is accepted
as best practice.
* Standard 1:1: QualityPro no longer recommends asking about criminal history on the
application and will no longer offer an application with criminal history questions.
The template application does still include
the following clause so that employers can
obtain the necessary reports to comply with
other QualityPro standards: "You are hereby
authorized to make any investigation of my
personal history, financial, criminal, credit and
motor vehicle records through any investigative or credit agencies or bureaus of your
choice. ... A criminal record or sentence is
not an automatic disqualification for employment. I agree to submit to any drug or alcohol
testing prior to or after employment."
To help applicants self-select and save
everyone time, be upfront in letting applicants
know that a criminal history search, MVR check
and drug test is part of your hiring process.
* Standard 1:2: The standard is the same,
but the sample interview questions have
been updated to offer QualityPro employers more options and cautions.
* Standard 1:4: Previous versions of the
criminal background check standard had
the QualityPro employer gathering sensitive information in order to obtain the
required reports. In v5, the Background
Check Data Form, FCRA Summary of Rights,
and the Background Check Disclosure and
Authorization Form have been removed
and QualityPro Employers are required to
obtain criminal background reports from
a FCRA compliant company. That company
will gather the necessary sensitive information and get permission from the prospective employee as required by law.
* 1:3, 5 & 6: No changes to the reference checking, motor vehicle records, or drug-free workplace standards except to change "should" to
"must" throughout the standards.
* Standards 1:1-6: The QualityPro Standards
now explicitly state that all documentation
of the hiring process for both successful
and unsuccessful applicants must be kept
for at least one year.

proven-professionals in our industry. Less than
3 percent of companies in the U.S. have earned
