FEATURE COR The Game Changing Revenue Driver By Adrian Bartha C OR is becoming a major competitive advantage for ICI construction companies in Ontario, yet some are still slow to adopt it. Metrolinx and the TTC announced earlier in 2015 that COR would become a prequalification requirement in 2016 and have already begun requiring COR or a specific COR status for specified contracts. The Greater Toronto Airport Authority (GTAA) and the City of Toronto also announced that they will require COR for prequalification in 2017. With the GTAA projecting a capital spend of approximately $200 million in 2017 and the City of Toronto projecting approximately $1 billion on infrastructure (not including the TTC) in 2017, having COR will only become increasing important for ICI construction companies wanting to bid on these high value contracts. 26 At the end of 2015, Metrolinx and the TTC revised their rollout plan to give lagging companies time to catch up so bidding on their projects remains competitive. Similarly, the GTAA and City of Toronto have released their rollout plans so companies can begin preparing for 2017. All those wanting to bid on Metrolinx projects this year must have the following status with the IHSA by these dates: * "Internal Assessment" by April 1, 2016, regardless of estimated project value * "Certified" status by April 1, 2016, for construction projects with an estimated value in excess of $25 million * "Certified" status by October 1, 2016, regardless of the estimated project value The TTC has changed their required dates for COR certification as follows: View this issue online at www.naylornetwork.com/oga-nxt * January 1, 2016 for contracts greater than $5 million * January 1, 2017 for all contracts, regardless of value All those wanting to bid on GTAA projects in 2017 must have COR or an equivalent program achieved by: * January 2017, regardless of estimated project value All those wanting to bid on City of Toronto projects in 2017 and beyond must have COR achieved by: * January 2017 for contracts greater than $25 million * January 2018 for contracts greater than $10 million * January 2019 for contracts greater than $5 million http://www.naylornetwork.com/oga-nxt
