success to one thing-a favourite saying at
Maple Reinders, which is "The Job is the Boss."
"We believe that when we commit to a project,
we must do everything possible to see it through.
That doesn't mean cutting corners, in fact, just the
opposite. We look at the needs of the project-and
that means treating not only our clients fairly, but
our tradespeople, too. We ensure a job is brought
through to completion, safely."
"Profit is important, of course, but not at
the cost of integrity," Harold goes on to say.
"Ultimately, we want to build something that's
of value to the client. We partner with them,
all the way."
Certainly, Maple Reinders has entered into
many partnerships over the years. Among the
most significant recently have been the publicprivate partnership (P3) projects the company

has undertaken, two just completed in Alberta
and British Columbia, and one now underway
in Ontario. The company's proven capabilities in
the P3 project delivery method enable it to provide an end-to-end solution for major municipal
infrastructure projects of various types, including water/wastewater, composting and organics
treatment facilities.
It's perhaps an overused adage, but it's
true: the only constant is change. In the past
50 years, Maple Reinders has seen many,
many changes-and much growth. It now has
seven locations in Canada, two each in Ontario,
Alberta, and British Columbia, and recently
expanded operations in the Maritimes with an
office in Halifax.
"The Canadian building industry has become
significantly more competitive in the past

10 years," Mike says. "Still, we believe we can
fulfill the need for quality work that people can
trust. We want to bring the passion we have for
building back to the market as a whole."
It's one of the reasons the company is continually exploring and adopting new technologies
and techniques. "3D modelling, BIM modelling,
wearable tech, robotics, drones, self-pouring
systems, GPS-enabled identity cards... these
are all viable technologies that need to be considered if we're going to adapt to the market,"
Harold says.
"I've always felt that my role was to find
interesting jobs for people," Fred says. "I want
people to feel good about themselves, and
about what they do. When all is said and done,
you have to love what you do. You have to be
excited to be alive!"
