ACCLAMATION OF 2015-2018
Each year the Ontario Water Works Association (OWWA) seeks nominations for two new members to sit on the OWWA Board
for a three year term. As we only received two applications this year by the deadline of November 5th, 2014, the candidates are
automatically acclaimed (approved) to fill these positions and there will be no voting process.
The new OWWA Directors for 2015-2018 are Ken Campbell and Nick Reid.
kEn cAMPBELL, P.Eng.
Ken Campbell is Vice President
and Chairman of the Board at R.V.
Anderson Associates Limited (RVA).
He has acted as process engineer,
project manager, project director,
and quality assurance reviewer on a
wide range of water supply projects
throughout his 29 years with RVA,
and has been an OWWA member
for 25 years.
Ken has seen a lot of changes over this time. OWWA has
grown to be a recognized voice in the water industry and with
the Ontario government. The quality of educational events
has improved, with the annual conference and seminars providing members with high quality professional development
and networking opportunities. Having personally gained
so much over the years from his involvement with OWWA,
Ken would like to "give back" to the organization. His goal
would be to help OWWA continue providing leadership to
the Ontario water works community through government
and public engagement and excellence in OWWA member
support and education.
Ken has been a member of the OWWA Groundwater
Committee since it started in 1995, a member or chair of the
OWWA Source Water Protection Committee since it started in
2005, and was twice a member of a local arrangements committee for the annual conference. Ken has 13 years' experience
as an elected director of RVA - a leading employee-owned
consulting firm focused on water, wastewater, and municipal
infrastructure. In addition, he is a member of the Institute of
Corporate Directors, has acted a chair of a non-profit summer
camp for children, and as a member of the Board of Managers
and Elder at his church.
Ken's water industry, OWWA, and board of directors experience gives him the background to make a positive contribution towards the future growth and development of the
Ontario Water Works Associate, and its Board of Directors.
Nick Reid is Executive Director
of Strategic Partnerships for the
Ontario Clean Water Agency
(OCWA) and has been with the
Agency for 20 years. In his current
role, he works collaboratively with
a diverse network of stakeholders
in organizations, municipalities,
ministries and industry, seeking
opportunities to execute long-
term strategic initiatives fundamental to the growth of Ontario's
water sector. Nick participated in several stakeholder consultations as Ontario developed the Water Opportunities Act and its
Water Sector Strategy. He is an active member of the Ontario
Environmental Industry Association and for the past two years
has participated in their outreach to Ontario MPPs.
From 2002 to 2006, Nick was General Manager of the Region
of Peel's four main water and wastewater plants, ensuring continuous service to 1.2 million residents under OCWA's largest
operating contract. Previous work at OCWA encompassed management of OCWA's IT Division, including support for Ontario's
largest implementation of a wide area SCADA system for 700+
water and wastewater locations.
Nick has been very active with OWWA, volunteering as
Publications Chair of the Association's quarterly magazine
Ontario Pipeline since June of 2009. In May of 2014, he took on
the Chair role of AWWA's Manufacturers and Associates Council
Subcommittee on the "Low Economic Value of Water" and presented findings at ACE in Boston. He is a member of OWWA's
Climate Change Committee and sits on the Ontario Centre of
Excellence's (OCE) External Project Advisory Panel.
Nick is an active mentor with the Toronto Regional Immigrant
Employment Council, helping professionals from other countries
adjust to Ontario's business, government and social practices.
Nick is a graduate of Trent university's Biology and Environmental
Science Program and looks forward to bringing the perspective
of OCWA's 160+ municipalities to the OWWA Board.
