FEATURE | CONFERENCE TOM MOULTON HONOURED WITH 2015 FULLER AWARD E ach year, the OWWA, a section of the American Water Works Association, presents its highest honour, the George Warren Fuller Award, to a selected member for their distinguished service to the water supply field in commemoration of the sound engineering skill, brilliant diplomatic talent and constructive leadership that characterized the life of George Warren Fuller. This year's recipient is Tom Moulton. Tom Moulton is a practical, dedicated, true blue water industry professional who began his career in water 35 years ago in what was initially a summer job while attending the University of Western Ontario. He has been an extremely active contributing member of OWWA/AWWA for 26 years and has served continuously on numerous committees for the OWWA/AWWA that focused on specification and standardization of materials and equipment, professional development, resource protection and the management of water systems. Tom Moulton is highly regarded in the public water supply sector for numerous reasons but most importantly for the leadership that he consistently demonstrates in the public water supply sector in Ontario. His practical knowledge of water systems, their operations and management, and his Tom Moulton is awarded the 2015 Fuller Award by AWWA Visiting Director Michael Simpson TOM MOULTON IS HIGHLY REGARDED IN THE PUBLIC WATER SUPPLY SECTOR FOR NUMEROUS REASONS BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY FOR THE LEADERSHIP THAT HE CONSISTENTLY DEMONSTRATES IN THE PUBLIC WATER SUPPLY SECTOR IN ONTARIO. passion to convey his in-depth knowledge of the water industry to foster the development of our young professionals are other aspects that make him worthy of this recognition. He is currently the manager of Emco Waterworks in Toronto, a national distributor of municipal water and sewer products and services. One of Tom's notable traits is his very calming demeanour, expressed in numerous presentations and tireless contributions to the water industry through the many committees within the OWWA and AWWA on which he has actively participated. Tom has been an especially strong supporter of Young Professionals in the water industry and a long-time leader in the Ontario section. He has served as member or chair of the Membership, Distribution and Y.P. Liaison Committees and as President of the OWWA, and, most recently, as a Vice President of the AWWA. Tom lives in Bradford, Ontario, with Linda, his wife of 33 years, and together they have two sons, Eric and Kyle who have followed in their father's footsteps as water professionals. When he's not devoting himself to his work, Tom enjoys playing hockey and travelling. During his term as AWWA Director, he was often fortunate to have Linda accompany him on some conferences and board meetings. O N T A R I O P I P E L I N E | SUMMER 2015 | 17
