REPORT | YOUNg PROFESSIONALS YP Spotlight - The OWWA YP Committee BY pRiYA pERSAUD, GM BlUEplAn EnGinEERinG, OWWA Yp COMMiTTEE F or this edition of the yP Spotlight, we wanted to shift focus on the entire yP Committee to highlight what we do and who we are. Who are we? We are a group of volunteers dedicated to providing opportunities for professional development to all people interested in becoming more active in the association. this daunting challenge is met by a fantastic group of people with less than 10 years' experience in the industry who provide forums and opportunities to improve and network across the industry. our committee is made up of members from municipalities and townships, consultants and undergraduate and post-graduate students: a perfect representation of the members we target. What do we do? the oWWa young Professionals Committee dedicates its time to: * welcoming students into the association * being the official YP liaison to the various oWWa Committees * providing opportunities to members to develop communication, technical, collaborative and networking skills every year, each of our subcommittees sets target goals and strategies to help us accomplish our goals. our subcommittees are: * Tours and Socials (those that organize the fall Meet and Greet, the Halloween room escape and upcoming Holiday Bash) * Communications (representing the YP committee on the oWWa Publications committee and reporting on yP events) * Seminars and Workshops (providing opportunities to present and develop Yp Committee Org chart o n t a r i o p i p E l i n E | Winter 2015 | 31
