PRIVATE CAPITAL CONFERENCE Private Capital Conference Private Capital Conference January 29, 2015 JW Marriott Houston, TX As North America's shale oil and gas plays mature, private capital is adapting to meet the growing financial needs of operators exploiting this exciting resource opportunity. As the plays move from land grabs to execution and technical refinement vastly larger quantities of capital are required and the time frames to exit are extended for financial backers. Private capital is meeting these new requirements with a new, large quantity of capital, from new players and established backers, competing for opportunities in an ever maturing market. This year's theme was "Private Capital Adapts to New American Energy Paradigm," and the meeting explored this evolution from both the capital provider and exploration side to help the attendee gain a broad understanding of opportunities to access, deploy and ultimately exit from private capital investments. ● Deploying the Right Capital for the Job Paul Beck (left), executive director of Macquarie Bank, and Michael McMahon, managing director of Pine Brook Road Partners, greet each other prior to the "Deploying the Right Capital for the Job" panel. Geert Van de Wouw, managing director of Shell Technology Ventures, discusses the types of capital that best fit a company. 52 IPAA ACCESS MAGAZINE Summer 2015 CTB Energy Finance's Christina Kitchens takes part in a discussion on the different styles of capital providers.
