feature NATuRAL GAS: The Fuel of Choice APGA task group addresses challenges to the direct-use of natural gas By Arthur Corbin, municipal Gas Authority of Georgia A lthough the U.S. is producing record amounts of natural gas and many consumers are converting to natural gas from other fuels, the direct-use of natural gas in homes and businesses is facing an increasing number of challenges on several fronts. For instance, some building codes and standards disadvantage natural gas, and appliance efficiency standards can sometimes lead to fuel switching away from natural gas. In recognition of these challenges, the APGA Board of Directors established the Direct-Use Task Group (DTG) to identify specific threats to the direct-use of natural gas and to develop strategies to respond that afford continuing consumer choices now and in the future. 10 THE SOURCE | THE vOICE and CHOICE Of pUblIC gaS
