Resolve to Give It
Your All in 2018
Lesly Connolly
MPI Potomac President
Director of Sales & Marketing
Holiday Inn Washington Dulles Airport Hotel

HELLO MPI POTOMAC!
Welcome to 2018, and what I am sure will be a
very exciting six months as we continue through
the 2017-2018 chapter year. The first half of our
year has proven to be fast, exciting, challenging
and rewarding. And if you are like me, that is a
fantastic mix! I have always believed that the true
measure of success is not only achieving the goals
that you set for yourself, but the quality of effort
involved as well.
Let's be honest ... everyone makes a "resolution"
at the beginning of each New Year. And, let's be
honest ... at the end of that year, most of us cannot
even remember the resolution we made! In many
cases, you put forth your best effort, but, in the
end, the results may not quite measure up to the
goal.
But did you put forth your best effort? Did you
do all you could to try and meet the goal you set
for yourself?
On a personal note, I can tell you without a
doubt that - YES! - I had a major goal set for
myself in 2017 and I accomplished it. (I actually
surprised myself!) However, there were other
goals that weren't quite met, but I know that I can
honestly say I gave it 100 percent effort. Let's see
if we can regroup and try again.
The MPI Potomac Board of Directors set high
goals for themselves at our incoming board
retreat back in May 2017, and we have been
working diligently since then to bring you quality
education, networking opportunities and career
development options. I could not have asked for a
more passionate, hardworking, dedicated group of

industry professionals to share this journey with.
In every board meeting, on every conference call,
in all conversations, the No. 1 concern and priority
is YOU - the member. They work to serve the
chapter in its entirety, continuously directing their
energy and efforts into proactive solutions and
new and improved ways of bringing you the return
on your membership investment.
However, we cannot do it alone! We need you to
become involved. Lend your talents to a committee
and be a part of shaping our chapter's future. Not
only will you bring your talent and creative ideas
to the forefront, but you will continue to expand
your network in the industry, ensuring your future
success as a potential leader in the chapter, or in
your current career. Please reach out to me or any
one of our board members at any time and let us
know the best way to get you involved!
And as we travel through the next six months of
this journey together, please keep this quote (one
of my favorites) in mind:

"THERE IS NO POINT
AT WHICH YOU CAN SAY
'WELL, I'M SUCCESSFUL
NOW. I MIGHT AS WELL
TAKE A NAP.'"
- CARRIE FISHER
