Fábricas de Papel Potosí, Mexico, has
brought on-stream a new A.Celli (Italy)
25,000 metric tpy tissue machine. The new
machine is at the company's mill in San Luis
Potosí. It is 2,800 mm wide, operates at a
speed of 1,500 m/min., has a 12-ft/ dia. steel
yankee dryer and can produce 80 metric
tpd of high-quality tissue. The Potosí mill
operates two existing tissue machines that
produce a combined 18,500 metric tpy of
napkin and toilet paper.
Glatfelter, York, Pa., USA, a producer of
specialty paper products, has announced its
intention to purchase the unused Mitsubishi
Power Systems facility in Fort Smith, Ark.
Glatfelter's plans are to locate an airlaid
materials plant at the facility to supply
products to a variety of customers, including those who support the broader wipes
and hygiene markets. The new operation
will create up to 83 highly-skilled jobs
with a total capital investment of approximately $80 million. The project is subject
to the approval of the Fort Smith Board of
Directors and closing on the purchase of the
former Mitsubishi Power Systems building
located in Chaffee Crossing
Guizhou Chitianhua, China, will
install two Andritz (Austria)-supplied tissue machines (TM 5 and TM 6) with steel
yankees at its mill in Chishui City, Guizhou
Province, for the production of high-quality
facial wipes, toilet paper and handkerchief
paper. Startup of TM 5 is scheduled for the
end of 2016 and of TM 6 for the beginning of
2017. The new PrimeLineST tissue machines
have a design speed of 2,000 meters/min.
and a paper width of 5.6 meters. The
machines of this type are currently unique
on the market because they combine a highperformance yankee with a steam-heated
hood. Both yankees for Guizhou Chitianhua
are made entirely of steel, have a diameter
of 20 ft., and thus are among the largest in
the world.
Lincoln Paper and Tissue's assets,
Lincoln, Maine, USA, have been acquired
by Gordon Brothers Group, Boston,
Mass., a global advisory, restructuring
and investment firm specializing in the
newsletter
industrial, consumer products and retail
sectors. Gordon Brothers purchased the
assets as part of a joint venture that includes
Capital Recovery Group, PPL Group, and
Rabin Worldwide. The Maine-based tissue
and paper mill filed for bankruptcy in
September 2015.
Lucart, Italy, has successfully started up
its TM 4 tissue machine in Porcari (Lucca),
Italy, after a rebuild by Toscotec S.p.A. The
upgrade includes a modification of the forming section and the complete replacement
of the old hood with a new Toscotec MONO
Yankee Hood fed by natural gas and complete
with a relevant air system and heat recovery system. The upgrade of the wire section
consisted of the replacement of the forming
roll and of the main white water saveall, as
well as relocation of the headbox and breast
roll. PM 4 is a twin wire former with a double
press configuration for 2.7 meter sheet width,
dedicated for the white and colored tissue
paper jumbo reels.
PMP (Paper Machinery Producer),
Poland, will supply Heibei Jinboshi Group Co.
two Intelli-Tissue® 1200 EcoEc lines. The two
lines will have a 3,650 mm reel trim, an operating speed of 1,200 m/min, a capacity of 75
metric tpd and a basis weight of 12.5-25 gsm
each. This project will be based on the PMP
Integrated Tissue Mill concept, which means
two machines (left-hand and right-hand) in
the same building, a shared control room,
as well as a warehouse. The same model of
right and left hand machines layout in one
building is the most compact solution and
the two machines can share a common spare
parts base. As a result, both space and costs
are saved as well as the number of personnel
required to run the installations.
SCA's (Sweden) acquisition of Wausau Paper,
Mosinee, Wis., USA, a North American Awayfrom-Home tissue company, has been closed
for the total consideration of $513 million in
cash. The transaction expands SCA's North
America footprint and production capacity,
and the combined businesses will provide
customers with a comprehensive portfolio
of products. The acquisition is expected to
generate annual synergies amounting to
approximately $40 million with full effect
three years after closing.
Sofidel Group, Porcari, Italy, has ordered
a Valmet Advantage New Tissue Technology
(NTT) 200 tissue machine for installation at
Delitissue plant in Ciechanów, Poland. The
Advantage NTT 200 machine can produce
both conventional and structured grades
of tissue, and will allow Sofidel to improve
the quality of its product range and further
increase the plant's energy efficiency. It is
5.5 meters wide, operates at a speed of 2,000
meters/min, and has a production capacity
of 70,000 metric tpy. Startup is planned for
the fourth quarter of 2017.
Suzano Papel e Celulose, São
Paulo, Brazil, has contracted with Voith,
Heidenheim, Germany, to deliver two tissue machines for installation at its mills
in Imperatriz and Mucuri, Brazil. The
Imperatriz machine is scheduled for startup
in June 2017, and the machine to be located
in Mucuri is expected to go online in
September 2017. Voith will be responsible
for supplying the complete tissue lines,
which will be equipped with NipcoFlex T
shoe presses and the EcoChange system to
allow a reliable reel spool change.
Vinda Group, China, has ordered three
new tissue machines from Toscotec, Italy,
scheduled for startup in the second half of
2016. Two Ahead 2.0M units will be installed
at Vinda's Sanjiang facility in Guangdong
province, where Vinda already has eight
Toscotec-supplied tissue machines running,
to attain a total mill capacity of 250,000
metric tpy. This also represents a recordbreaking achievement for the Italian manufacturer, who will start up its tenth tissue
line on the same production base over the
course of just four years. The third machine
will be installed in Vinda Shandong, where
Toscotec has already supplied three lines in
three years.
