Fostering an Environment for Effective Formative Assessment and Implementation of the Common Core O Corey Savage, Marshall Perkins, Callie Heck, and Mark McGarry On March 28, 2014, the College of Education at Michigan State University hosted a conference entitled "Re-envisioning Assessment, Accountability, and Data Use to Support Schools" with Dr. Rick Stiggins, an expert in formative assessment, as the keynote speaker. Panelists and attendees included stakeholders across the education sector in Michigan, including 36 Principal Leadership | November 2014 administrators, officials from the Michigan Department of Education, researchers, teachers, administrators, journalists, and nonprofit organization associates.
