Leadership for Student Activities - February 2015, NHS & NJHS Edition - (Page 4)
chool spirit is a concept familiar to almost
everyone who's attended a U.S. high school,
but it's also one that is hard to quantify. Those
with it boast a sense of pride, belonging, and support.
Those without it may be disengaged and isolated.
And for advisers and student leaders, turning school
spirit into actionable items is no easy task.
That's what this issue of Leadership for Student Activities is all about-
the everyday actions that help leaders propel school spirit to new heights.
Our cover feature (page 12) provides ways to create a spirited school
culture in which leaders cheer each other on, reinforce their school's
brand, and engage their rivals in fundraising efforts. On page 20,
we show you how one student council in Attica, IN, keeps school spirit
alive in a digital age. And on page 22, we focus on the importance of
friendship and bonding.
When it comes to school spirit, the ultimate goal is to foster a positive
and accepting school environment. We hope this issue of Leadership for
Student Activities helps you do just that.
