Take Note School Spirit and Your Chapter E Pluribus Unum, the motto included in the Great Seal of the United States and meaning "from the many, one," has guided our nation since the beginning. It serves double duty as a reminder of the important work that your chapter can do to build one school from the many students, staff, and organizations found on your campus. The articles and projects shared in this edition of Leadership for Student Activities are designed to help define the role that your chapter members and you, as the chapter adviser, play in this important task. NATIONAL STUDENT LEADERSHIP WEEK "The Power of One" is this year's National Student Leadership Week (NSLW) theme. Plan to celebrate during the week of April 19-25. Our online resources focus on ways to focus on the value of one student, one chapter, and one school in all of your chapter's projects and activities during the year. NOMINATIONS EXPLORE THE NATIONAL ARE DUE STUDENT PROJECT DATABASE The deadline for nominations for the 2015 Rynearson Awards is February 15. This year, two awards will be presented honoring one NHS and one NJHS adviser of the year. Nomination forms are available at www.nhs.us/rynearson. All nominees must represent active chapters and have served as an adviser for at least three years. In search of a little inspiration? Be sure to check out the National Student Project Database. Now housing more than 2,500 projects, this useful resource provides advisers and students leaders with ideas derived from schools around the nation. Featured prominently on the NHS and NJHS home pages (www.nhs.us and www.njhs.us), it is searchable by school name, size, location, type of project, and keyword. Add your chapter's projects to the database, and you'll get a certificate acknowledging your contribution. It's a great way to wrap up a successful project and promote your chapter's activities. ORDER EARLY! Hosting an induction ceremony later this spring? Now is a good time to organize your insignia order for your new inductees. While online orders are the fastest way to get your supplies, and calling or faxing an order can be handled quickly, nothing works in your favor like beating the rush by ordering your materials this month. Visit the "My Account" link found at the bottom of the online store home page (store.nhs.us or store.njhs.us) to log in and access your past orders from the sales office. This simple step can save you time and energy and reduce the stresses associated with your spring events.
