PetSmart Charities of Canada: Canada's
Adoption Story

Canadians have grave misconceptions about animal shelters and pet adoption. Most believe-wrongly-that shelter
animals are temperamental, untrained and unfriendly, with
no purebreds available for adoption. And few people realize
how many pets enter shelters each year-around 150,000.
To drive awareness of the homeless pet population in
Canada and to drive in-store adoptions, PetSmart partnered
with PetSmart Charities of Canada to execute a campaign
called "PetSmart Charities of Canada: Canada's Adoption
Story." The campaign sought to drive in-store adoptions
and support the organization's mission of eliminating pet
homelessness in Canada. The campaign succeeded. Last
year, PetSmart helped find permanent homes for more than
20,000 cats and dogs in Canada and celebrated PetSmart's
milestone 200,000th adoption.
"When we launched PetSmart in Canada, we made a PetSmart: helping to write Canada's adoption story.

pets a year and have saved 200,000 pets to date-a significant milestone
for us," says John Defranco, President of PetSmart Canada.

Synchronizing the Supply Chain to
Support Growth & Expansion in an
Omni-Channel Environment

How does a company grow? Ask La Maison Simons, the
Quebec retail favourite that successfully doubled its footprint, opened new stores across Canada, and fortified its
online presence thanks to an improved supply chain.
To make this growth possible, Simons needed to replace a reactive, manual approach to supply chain
decision-making and operations with a proactive, automated system. Such a significant change to the way the
company did business forced Simons to integrate key
elements of its supply chain, reduce operations and inventory costs, and invent a more flexible fulfillment option-and all these changes had to maintain the excellent service and boutique fashion shopping experience
that customers had come to expect.
The result was a robust supply chain system that includes predictive analytics and demand forecasting,
new warehouse processes, inter-channel inventory and Simons: changing the way the supply chain works.

The improved agile, lean, and integrated supply chain has resulted in high in-stock
measurements, higher fulfillment rates, smarter fulfillment strategies, lower labour
costs, loyalty program success, and expansion into the U.S. made possible by ecommerce and a strong supply chain backbone.
