Chris Carder, Co-Founder and COO at Kinetic
Cafe (whose company launched its Kinetic Commerce Platform at Aldo's Westfield World Trade Center opening), was lucky enough to observe reactions
from shoppers on the store's opening day-hearing
comments such as "I can't believe how fast that was".
Mr. Carder credited Aldo as being "bold enough to
lead the way in Canada among retailers to push this
technology forward".
Aldo's Mr. Baret explained how the technology
doesn't replace the human element to Aldo's stores.
Rather, the technology empowers sales associates
and provides more quality interaction, as opposed
to going back-and-forth between the shop floor and
backroom. Staff training is critical to the platform's
success, which fortunately is simple to use, he said.
Mr. Baret revealed that the associate app technology
is being rolled out in about 100 stores in Canada and
the United States this year, and that the company's
mobile point-of-sale systems began piloting over the
summer. Selected stores will also see the addition of
the 'endless shelf' technology, as Aldo innovates to
create some of the world's most technologically advanced retail environments.
