How Lipari Foods Stays Fresh and Competitive
With Mobile Analytics
How do national distributors ensure that all
stores have the products that customers want,
when they want them?
Lipari Foods devised a cohesive enterprise reporting
system for employees and food service customers
using Information Builders' WebFOCUS business
intelligence (BI) and analytics platform. The
company can now deliver real-time updates,
scheduled reports, and an analytics dashboard
across mobile, tablet, and desktop devices.
As a regional wholesale food distributor with an
expanding national footprint, Lipari Foods saw a
gap between its growing workforce and accounts,
and access to data that could provide visibility into
every step of the supply and distribution process.
Lipari went from relying on IT to produce
thousands of one-off reports, to adopting a
self-service solution that allows all users to easily
access, sort, and visualize transactional data.
"We badly needed an enterprise reporting tool for
both employees and customers," explains Joe
Beydoun, manager of Security Systems and
Business Intelligence at Lipari Foods. "Some of
our vendors had good reporting capabilities, but

could not provide dashboards; others could create
custom dashboards, but only offered rigid reports."
With WebFOCUS in place, sales and operations
teams can now easily access real-time data, and
use self-service dashboards to consolidate reporting. With a couple of taps users can see which
consumers were serviced, which products were
shipped, what's selling and what's languishing on
the shelves, and many other details. Users can
now predict what each customer and depot needs
based on recent or historical trends, enabling
Lipari to maintain a lean inventory model, and
ensure that fresh goods make it to the consumer.
