OIN ELECTRIC ENERGY INDUSTRY senior executives for RMEL's 2020 VIRTUAL Fall Executive Leadership and Management Convention
this September! Look for some big, exciting announcements on this soon! This convention has been a longstanding RMEL tradition
since our beginning in 1903. We are looking forward to taking this event into its next era of virtual education and networking as
we continue to address the top executive-level strategic challenges of today and the future of this great industry!.
The RMEL Fall Convention attracts senior-level utility managers and executives. Find chief executives, company officers, vice
presidents, general managers, decision makers and senior management of energy companies at this event. Attendees represent the
many utility ownerships including IOU, G&T, municipalities, cooperative and government agencies.
The first Keynote is Dan Bartlett, Former Counselor to President George W. Bush, and Current EVP of Corporate Affairs for Walmart. As the
former counselor to President George W. Bush, Dan Bartlett was responsible for all aspects of communications planning, policy formulation and agenda implementation. Currently a strategic advisor to business leaders in key sectors of the American and global economy,
his experience serving in the highest levels of state and federal government and helping lead two successful presidential campaigns
gives him a unique perspective in shaping public opinion and reputation management. Bartlett also draws on his years of foreign policy
experience to speak from firsthand knowledge about the current political environment, life in the West Wing and America's international
relationships. During his years at the White House, Bartlett oversaw the White House Press Office and the Offices of Communications,
Media Affairs and Speechwriting. He played a key role in developing and executing the president's domestic and foreign policy agenda
and traveled extensively with President Bush to more than 40 countries, participating in talks with top-level officials. President Bush relied
on Bartlett for his policy judgment, which enabled him to develop successful campaigns to reform public schools, pass major tax relief
and begin diversifying America's energy sources. In addition, Bartlett played a lead role in launching a global communications strategy
as the U.S. responded to the attacks on September 11, 2001. Currently, Bartlett is the executive vice president of corporate affairs for
Walmart. Mike Duke, the company's CEO said, "Dan's...broad understanding of world affairs make him the ideal leader...He has had key
roles in government and at a major communications company. He has also counseled a wide range of clients in areas such as growth
strategy, crisis management and public opinion."
Our second Keynote, Anirban Basu, is Chairman & CEO of Sage Policy Group, Inc., an economic and policy consulting firm headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland, with an office in Indonesia. The firm provides strategic analytical services to energy suppliers, law firms,
medical systems, government agencies and real estate developers among others. In 2014, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan appointed
him Chair of the Maryland Economic Development Commission. He also serves as chairman of the Baltimore County Economic Advisory
Committee. He is also the Chief Economist to Associated Builders and Contractors and Chief Economic Advisor to the Construction
Financial Management Association. He serves or has served similar functions for Visit Baltimore, Maryland Realtors and Marcum, LLC. He
lectures at Johns Hopkins University in global strategy and has also taught international economics, urban economics and micro- and
macroeconomics at Hopkins. His radio show can be heard weekdays on 88.1FM, WYPR, Baltimore. In both 2007 and 2016, the Daily Record
newspaper selected Mr. Basu as one of Maryland's 50 most influential people. The Baltimore Business Journal named him one of the
region's 20 most powerful business leaders in 2010.
