Association Leadership - January/February 2016 - (Page 22)
early 200 planners and hospitality suppliers came
together in Frisco this past November 15-17 for the
inaugural Connect Texas, a new hosted buyer event
for the meetings industry produced by TSAE and
Collinson Media and Events.
The program kicked off with an evening reception
hosted by the Frisco CVB at the Dr Pepper Ballpark.
The first full day started with a general session keynote before
suppliers and planners headed into two hours of pre-scheduled
appointments. Planners sat at tables while hospitality vendors traveled
around the room for six-minute pre-set meetings that gave each party
the opportunity to learn about the other's meeting needs and offerings.
This new format allowed for meaningful conversations and ensured
everyone left with at least 25 new or renewed connections.
The appointments continued the next day while education breakouts,
a keynote lunch, speaker showcase, and networking reception filled
out the rest of the program.
The first Connect Texas was a huge success, with nothing but
positive feedback on this new way to do business. We look forward to
an even bigger 2016-don't miss it!
