NON-SPORTING GROUP
The Non-Sporting Group is a very diverse group. Originally the AKC registered
dogs as Sporting or Non-Sporting. Then the Hounds and Terriers split off from
the Sporting Group and the Toys and Working dogs from the Non-Sporting
Group. The Herding Group then split from the Working Group to make up the
7 Groups. The remaining dogs that have traits that don't fit into any of the
other categories are judged in the Non-Sporting Group. These dogs differ in
personality, appearance, size, coat and temperament.
