TREEING WALKER COONHOUND NAMED 'CLIFFORD' IS 2022 GRAND AMERICAN NITE HUNT CHAMPION
Natural ability gifted a 5 ½-year-old male Treeing Walker
Coonhound named " Clifford " with the talent to win the
2022 Grand American Nite Hunt Championship. PKC Silver
CH 'PR' Iron Swamp Carolina Clifford outperformed nearly
1,400 coonhounds from the registered class to capture the
top spot at the 57th running of the prestigious event held
in January at Orangeburg, South Carolina. Breeder-ownerhandler
Wade Windham of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina,
who raised Clifford's litter when the dam died shortly after
they were born, says, " I recognized Clifford was special
when he started treeing raccoons on his own at 7 months
old. " At the Grand American, Clifford treed 10 raccoons -
11 if you count a raccoon treed during a timeout. Clifford
made the Final Four based on cast wins and points earned
over two nights of competition. " Clifford hit a hot track
and was the first to strike and tree. That is how he won, "
Windham says. Having grown up pleasure hunting,
Windham began dabbling in competition nite hunts
about 20 years ago. He attributes Clifford's keen intelligence
and accuracy to the Grand Nite Champions
behind him on both his dam's and sire's sides. Clifford is
fed Purina Pro Plan SPORT Performance 30/20 Chicken

In his third United Kennel Club nite hunt competition, " Clifford "
captured the top spot at the 2022 Grand American Nite Hunt
Championship.
NO. 1 TOY DOG IS 'COOPER,' AN ENGLISH TOY SPANIEL
An outgoing, Russian-bred 4-year-old male English Toy
Spaniel (B&PC) named " Cooper " has charmed his way
to being the No. 1 Toy dog and No. 2 all-breed dog in the
country. " Happy and engaging, Cooper always shows with
his head up and his tail wagging, " says Patti Caldwell of
Lavon, Texas, owner with her husband, Richard. Handled
A frendly, happy English Toy Spaniel, " Cooper " won Best of Breed
and placed Toy Group Third at the 2022 Westminster Kennel Club show.

Nevskogo Hobbita started 2022 with a breed record-setting
Best in Show in January at the Kennel Club of Palm Springs
topping 3,858 dogs. In the first four months, he won nine
Bests in Show, nine Reserve Bests in Show and 39 Toy
Group Firsts, as well as three Toy Dog Specialties and
an English Toy Spaniel Regional Specialty. Cooper was
brought to the U.S. as an 8-week-old puppy by Clussexx
Spaniel breeders Doug Johnson and Jamie Hubbard, of
Bloomington, Indiana, who are well-known for producing
the Westminster Best in Show winners, " Brady, " a Clumber
Spaniel, and " Stump, " a Sussex Spaniel. " Cooper was already
walking on lead at 8 weeks, " Johnson says. " He was smart,
clever and had a sense of humor, traits that are so important
for this breed. " Impressed with the temperament
of English Toy Spaniels bred by Yana Nevskaya of Saint
Petersburg, Russia, Johnson and Hubbard learned that
Nevskaya credited them with changing the course of her
breeding program when she bred to their male, " Bennie "
(GCH Clussexx Champagne Breakfast), a prominent Best
in Show winner in Europe for many years and Cooper's
paternal grandsire. The Caldwells, longtime Golden Retriever
and Pug breeders, began with English Toys in 2015 and
have campaigned many Clussexx dogs as well as those
they have bred under the Bookmark prefix. Cooper, their
top-winning English Toy Spaniel, is fed Purina Pro Plan
SPORT Performance 30/20 Beef & Rice Formula dog food.
