Packaging Make-up trends Innovative twist A roundup of some of the most innovative approaches to make-up packaging by Laëtitia Bonnet-Mundschau There have been two star launches for the rotating brush mascara: Diorshow 360° by Dior (supplied by Albéa, pictured) and the Volume Fast & Perfect from Bourjois. Albéa claims its brush covers all parts of the lash for a 360° effect, while the rotation movement allows the formula to be dispensed uniformly, provides volume and separates the lashes. HCP Packaging USA has developed and manufactured the packaging of L’Oréal Paris’ The One Sweep Eye Shadow. The applicator acts as a stamp that transfers the eye make-up to the lid in one movement. The sponge design mimics the curve of the lid and eye area. HCP Packaging has also supplied Bourjois with a compact and mirror for its Biodetox foundation (pictured). A swivel function rotates and tilts the lid to angle the full size mirror in the open or closed position. Albéa has fine-tuned two ergonomic applicators. The applicator Neopro Tulip (pictured) for gloss in a small container is made from a supple plastic material for more hygiene and to better outline the lips. The company has expanded its range of turning applicators, Spin Art with Spin Art Silhouette, which adapts to the shape of the lip resulting in more shine. Rexam provided the metal pack for Guerlain’s Rouge Automatique mascara (pictured), which can be opened and applied by using only one hand, making it a practical solution. By moving the small lever, a trap at the top of the lipstick opens to reveal the lipstick. This is a new version of a pack designed in 1936. 56 July-September 2011 - N°7 - BW Confidential
