DOUBLE RECORD POP'S : 128 ET 130

Du 6 au 9 octobre dernier, à Perris Valley (Californie), l'équipe internationale «Team Ripcord
Skydiving», composée de parachutistes de plus de 40 ans, a établi deux nouveaux records
du monde POP'S de grande formation en vol relatif : 128 et 130.

Une météo de rêve, six avions et un
groupe trié sur le volet, l'organisation
du dernier rassemblement POP'S,
sous la direction technique d'un Dan BC
en pleine forme, avait toutes les chances
de son côté. Cela n'a d'ailleurs pas
traîné. Seize sauts et deux nouveaux
records du monde.

Skydive Perris ne fait jamais les choses à
moitié. Les participants invités au dernier
challenge "over phorty" par Team
Ripcord Skydiving (voir encadré)
savaient, depuis le début, que les
choses se présentaient bien.
La météorologie d'abord. Même dans la
Californie du Sud, aux confins du désert,
il arrive en octobre que le brouillard du
matin ou les nuages de convection se
mettent de la partie. Cette fois-ci,

Records POP'S à tout va, à tout vent

Le record du monde POP'S précédent était un 123 réalisé presque un an avant,
jour pour jour, et au même endroit, à Perris (cf. ParaMag n°342 de novembre
2015), il était organisé par l'entité «Team Ripcord Skydiving», fondée par Kimbo
Godwin. Il succédait au 120 réalisé en 2012 à Deland, en Floride (cf. ParaMag
n°307 de décembre 2012), et qui était organisé par Roger Ponce de Leon,
sous la houlette de Carey Peck. En 2014 à Eloy, en Arizona, «Team Ripcord
Skydiving» avait déjà organisé avec succès un record de grande formation
séquentiel de 2 points à 62 (cf. ParaMag n°325 de juin 2014). Précisons que
ces records POP'S n'entrent pas dans les catégories des records FAI.
Dans quelques semaines, du 5 au 9 novembre, de nouvelles tentatives de
record POP'S en grande formation vont être organisées à Deland, en Floride,
par Roger Ponce de Leon et Lou Tomassi. L'objectif est un record de séquence
de trois points à 108, il est donc double : record POP'S et record FAI.
Quelle santé, ces POP'S !
