WINGSUIT ROPE SWING

Le «rope swing» est une pratique très courante en milieu naturel, généralement au-dessus de l'eau,
et qui consiste à se balancer le long d'une corde. Elle a déjà été transposée dans le milieu parachutiste, l'exemple le plus récent étant le «Mega swing», lorsque quatre parachutistes autrichiens
ont installé une balançoire géante sous un ballon (cf. ParaMag n° 356 de janvier 2017).
De là à remplacer l'aéronef ou le support fixe par une wingsuit, il y avait un pas qu'ont franchi
récemment Marine et Vincent Descols. «Le Blond» nous explique la technique mise au point
avec son épouse, et qui ouvre sur de nouvelles sensations en chute libre.

L'idée d'un rappel pendulaire sous une
aile a germé l'an dernier lors d'une
animation wingsuit à Chalon. Toujours
en quête de nouveaux jeux et nouvelles
techniques, Marine et moi explorons
humblement l'immense univers des
possibilités qu'offrent les wingsuits
modernes.
Après deux essais infructueux la saison
dernière, essentiellement par manque de
préparation, nous avons cette fois pris le
temps de la réflexion, d'autant plus enrichie par nos deux tentatives manquées.
Parmi les enseignements que le coaching
en wingsuit nous a appris, c'est que les
choses peuvent mal tourner rapidement,
et de ce fait, le cahier des charges
pour cette cascade nous apparaissait
évident : sécurité, simplicité, sécurité,
fun, sécurité !

Une fois les bases jetées, nous nous
sommes demandé quel était le meilleur
moyen de faire descendre Marine,
en lisse, à 8 mètres sous ma wingsuit.
La solution retenue comme la plus
prometteuse fut un rappel de type escalade sur une corde (de type dynamique,
diamètre 7mm pour un encombrement
minimum), Marine étant équipée d'un
baudrier et d'un «8» de grimpe.

Côté wingsuit, j'ai également un baudrier
d'escalade installé sous mon parachute,
avec le mousqueton qui sort de la combinaison par un zip ventral, ce qui me
permet d'avoir le point d'ancrage de la
corde au niveau de mon centre de
gravité, et ainsi de ne pas perturber le
vol en changeant le centrage de l'aile.
Le «8» n'a aucune surface saillante
et apparaît donc comme le moins

dangereux des outils de descente en
rappel. Ce rappel offre l'avantage de
nous faire partir proches l'un de l'autre
à la sortie de l'avion, et d'éviter ainsi un
choc trop violent au moment de la mise
en tension de la corde.
