Elite Camp
Cette année, les organisateurs ont
suivi leur plan du «200 way» jusqu'à
l'avant-dernier saut. Participer à un
Mais comme Rook le répétait toute la
semaine: «It is not the destination that
matters but the journey.» Apparemment
le nouvel objectif (200) est plus important
que la date de la performance.
Pour le 12ème saut, que nous savions être
le dernier, Rook tenta tout de même une
formation à 171. C'était normalement
réalisable sans soucis, mais le stress de
la dernière chance a eu raison de nous.
Une tension trop forte a fait «buller» un
flyer proche de la base qui n'a jamais pu
se réinsérer.
Au final, à l'atterrissage, il y a malgré
tout beaucoup de sourires et de hugs.
Tout le monde réalise que nous avons
vécu une semaine exceptionnelle avec
ces 11 sauts à 200 flyers !
De plus, avec tous les gens qui ont été
«cuttés» sur cet ultime saut, c'était mieux
que personne ne reparte avec ce record
sauvetage puisque nous avions travaillé
tous ensemble depuis le début.
Ça n'aurait pas été très juste pour les
exclus de dernière minute.

Cela fait bientôt 10 ans que les records
du monde de freefly ont lieu à Chicago. En 2009, c'est à Skydive Chicago
que la barre mythique des 100 flyers
était dépassée, avec un record à 108.
En 2012, Skydive Chicago organisait le
nouveau record à 138, et une meilleure
performance mondiale à 142. En 2015 le
record passait à 164, mais c'est 170 qui
était visé.
record du monde coûte cher et de fait,
beaucoup de freeflyers, en milieu de
semaine, souhaitaient diminuer la taille de
la formation, pour augmenter les chances
de réaliser un nouveau record.
