Le package pour ces trois rendez-vous
était intéressant. En l'occurrence, il comprenait un séjour de six nuits à moindre
coût dans un hôtel de luxe, au cœur de
Kharkiv. En été, la ville est particulièrement très animée avec son vaste choix de
restaurants de qualité, de bars, de clubs
ainsi que diverses autres curiosités tels
que les parcs de Gorki et Shevchenko. Le
jour comme la nuit, les promeneurs se
baladent légèrement vêtus.

La région se trouve sur la même latitude
qu'Amsterdam en Hollande, mais il y fait
généralement plus de 30 degrés durant
les journées d'août, et la température ne
descend pas en dessous de 20 degrés la
nuit. À Kharkiv, ça bouge l'été et on n'est
pas pressé d'aller se coucher. Mais, pour
les parachutistes, l'envie de bien profiter
des journées de saut ramenait à la raison.
Les transports en bus étaient inclus dans
le package avec un départ quotidien de
l'hôtel à 8h00 afin d'être sur la DZ 30
minutes plus tard, prêts à sauter.
Le terrain est immense et ne présente
aucun inconvénient pour se poser après
un saut à 100 à l'issue duquel les dérives
sont longues. Le vent est souvent présent,
doux et laminaire. Le hangar qui accueille
les participants est lui aussi très grand
permettant ainsi de centraliser la bonne
ambiance d'un groupe.
Et puis la grande caractéristique, ce sont
ces vieux Antonov 2 alignés devant le
hangar. C'est un avion biplan avec des
ailes en toile. Il fut conçu et fabriqué à
la fin des années 40. En fin de journée,
ceux qui le souhaitaient pouvaient sauter
de cette vieille machine emmenant 12
parachutistes. Le prix est de 15 euros
le 1500 mètres, tarif dérisoire pour un
retour dans le passé qui commence par
le démarrage pétaradant du moteur en
étoile.
