A background page in 6 steps How to transform your patterned papers Creating your own background paper starting from a white page has become common. How about starting from patterned paper with designs pretty much present, that you are going to transform by making it softer? With this technique, which is pretty easy to make use of, you will be able to have fun while using rubberstamps, masks and inks. by Ingvild Bolme In creating our own backgrounds we are more in control of our layout(s). Sometimes we buy somewhat ornate prints, and when about to use them, we would like them to be a little more subdued. By working on them again with gesso, inks, stamps and masks, we can create a very different, incredibly romantic atmosphere, for this photo of two sparky little girls. The technique is also suitable for men's pages, depending both on the colors and drawings which are used and the finishes (here it is the fairy tale aspect which is underlined). Born in Stockholm in 1804, she led a life totally devoted to ballet dancing, and died, in 1884, in Marseille, where she had retired herself. She enchanted the world of balletlovers, in the Romantic period: she was Marie Taglioni, the daughter of an Italian choreographer and a Swedish ballerina. She spent more time on the tips of her toes than on the balls of her feet since she created dancing on point. Her costume gave birth to the tutu that all classic dancers still wear. Alas, Taglioni's art is lost to us. None of the choreographies created for her have survived, even the Sylph, in which she triumphed in an aerial technique, which was her trademark.
