A nod towards tradition: the bride and her bridesmaids... A nod towards the art of the half-length portrait, which appeared in the XVth century in Flanders when upper-middle class people and traders wanted to show off, but not in the Court fashion, i.e. using the side view, to exhibit their profile like on a medal. They asked for a of three-quarter portrait which would show the outer appearance of the person, and on the other hand would make the inner personality of the model very sensitive, thanks to numerous parameters, among which the pose, the expression of the face... A tip was to make them sit leaning at the parapet of a wall, which resulted in creating immediate depth, giving the portrait a life of its own, exactly as in the photo here where the parapet is made real by the wooden embellishments! 20 HISTOIRES DE PAGES - LET'S TALK LAYOUTS MARS 2014 ISSUE 2
