SPECIAL Composite material inspection Composite materials are being used more and more every year, especially in the aircraft industry. The OmniScan™ PA system developed by Olympus NDT resolves the inspection problems related to the specific characteristics of composite materials. Combined with phased array probes and a water box, the system provides an efficient and versatile non-destructive testing solution. OmniScan MX PA uses a water delay line and a linear array composed of 64 to 128 elements firing in sequence to cover a large area in a single pass. The unit also provides an amplitude or time-of-flight C-scan mapping view that makes data analysis an easy task. The main advantages of using OmniScan PA with this technique are the increased inspection speed due to the large coverage of the phased array probe and the portability of the complete equipment. > Stand J5 www.olympus.com.sg and a 0.6 mm veneer or a 3 mm skin with 9 plies and a 0.3 mm thick veneer. For example, the furniture can be made with a 1 mm thick wbp plywood, 3 plies, DesignConcept 3D, a design tool for creating complex models, and Vector® TechTex, a cutting system for single and multiple ply cutting, are dedicated to composite processing.
