Application Focus About Scott Bader Scott Bader was established in 1921. Today, it is a £180 million multinational chemical company, employing 560 people worldwide. CoreCork® sheets were first cut to blue print before assembly and then the 3 metre long boat was built through an infusion process. A few days later, the boat made its first entrance in the water. Right: The see-through resin hull. Damping properties Shock, impact and slamming resistance are other important characteristics of CoreCork® laminates. The core retains its original thickness even after repeated impact. Under the effect of a constant frequency created by an engine or the pounding of waves, sandwich constructions using CoreCork® take energy out of the system. The loss factor (damping) of such laminates is far better than for laminates made with rigid foams, thus helping to reduce structural borne noise and providing airborne acoustic insulation. CoreCork® is also used as a core material to manufacture kayaks, and is being submitted to RINA approval.
