development investment grant. www.magna.com Lanxess invests in Asia Lanxess recently began building a plant for the production of butyl rubber in Singapore, which is due to go on stream in 2013. A total of EUR 400 million has been set aside for this project. In Nantong near Shanghai, Lanxess, together with TSRC Corporation, is building a facility for NBR rubber at a cost of around EUR 36 million. It is scheduled to begin production in 2012. At its production site of Jhagadia in India, Lanxess is currently involved in the construction of a compounding plant for the two engineering plastics Durethan (polyamide) and Pocan (polybutylene terephthalate), which is due to commence operation at the beginning of 2012. The cost of this investment is more than EUR 10 million. www.lanxess.com Erratum: In the article titled "Global glassfibre production: changes across the board" which appeared in the June-July 2010 issue of JEC Composites Magazine, a table identifies several manufacturers as making and selling “Advantex” glass. Owens Corning is proud to be the exclusive owner of the registered trademark “Advantex®”. Advantex® glass has a patented formulation which offers the unique attributes of being both a boron-free E-glass, and an E-CR glass reinforcement in accordance with ASTM D578, ISO 20789, and DIN 1259-01. Consequently, some of the information contained in the article and chart misuses the Owens Corning Advantex® trademark. Of the companies identified in the chart, only 3B Fibreglass has a license from Owens Corning to use the trademark Advantex®. Only Owens Corning and 3B Fiberglass make Advantex® glass. The following companies do not make and sell Advantex® glass: Ahlstrom Glassfibre Oy, Cam Elyaf Sanayii As (Sisecam Group), Johns Manville, Johns Manville Europe Slovakia, P-D Glasseiden Oschatz, PPG Fiber Glass, PPG Sinoma Jinjing Fiber Glass (Zibo).

Goodrich Corporation acquires Crompton Technology Group Goodrich Corporation has acquired UKbased Crompton Technology Group, Ltd. (CTG), a leading designer and manufacturer of advanced carbon fibre composite products for the aerospace, defence, advanced vehicle and clean energy markets. The transaction closed on 9 June 2010; terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. www.goodrich.com Composite Technology Investors acquires Vector Composites The American company Composite Technology Investors LLC, Solana Beach, CA, has recently completed the purchase of Vector Composites, Inc., Dayton, Ohio, from DR Technologies, Inc., San Diego, CA, as unveiled on 18 June 2010. Vector Composites, Inc. (VCI) is a small business contractor providing composite structure development and fabrication services for aerospace applications. www.compositetechnologyinvestors.com Reichhold expands manufacturing capacity in Turkey As part of the ongoing growth of Reichhold’s business in the Turkish market, the company announced on 22 June 2010 that it will further expand its activities through a new, additional manufacturing partnership with Ilkalem Ticaret ve Sanayi A.S. (Ilkalem). Ilkalem will manufacture selected products that will expand the range of products locally produced by Reichhold and increase its overall capacity, which is a key consideration for many of its current and prospective customers. www.reichhold.com

fuselage and tail units of the new Airbus A350 XWB. www.lap-laser.com Toho Tenax Europe to supply carbon fibre for Bombardier CSeries The core company of Teijin Group's carbon fibre business announced on 28 June 2010 that its European division, Toho Tenax Europe GmbH, has signed a contract to supply carbon fibre material for major primary and secondary composite structures on Bombardier’s new CSeries aircraft programme. Toho Tenax will be supplying a variety of carbon fibre types for both dry textile and prepreg applications on the programme. Magna Composites to create 327 new jobs North Carolina's Governor Bev Perdue announced on 15 June 2010 that auto parts supplier Magna Composites LLC plans to expand three plants in the western part of North Carolina and create 327 new jobs over the next four years.
