Hot melt prepreg equipment
Hot melt prepreg equipment is used
Hot melt prepreg involves pre-coating a carrier paper using a machine
called a "filmer". This high-accuracy
coater applies the hot melt resin to
silicone-coated release paper. The
coated paper (sometimes called "precast" paper or film) is then applied
to the fibre for resin impregnation.
Through heat and pressure via highprecision compaction rolls, the resin
transfers from the paper to the fibre
to produce prepreg.
Litzler's hot melt machines include
large-diameter precision-heated
compaction rolls to minimize the
deflection effects on the prepreg.
The R&D team has advanced the
overall design of the compaction roll
by increasing the tolerances for the
customer. Improved surface finishes
and improved total indicator reading
(roundness) help to produce higher
quality prepregs.
All of the company's hot melt machines include the S-wrap™ prepreg
process. This processing method has
made the prepreg process reliable

of prepreg: hot melt, solution (tower,
horizontal, unidirectional (UD), and
tow-preg), and thermoplastic. Pilot
