JCM: Could you give us an overview of PCT's
market by application, in volume and value?

H.W.: PCT focuses on five core market
sectors:
- Architecture: the largest business unit in
terms of projects and production volumes.
- Marine: working with the world's most famous yacht designers and engineers, PCT
specializes in building high-performance,
custom racing sailing and power boats from
7 to 18 metres in length. With an annual
capacity of 10 to 20 boats, volumes vary
from single offshore racing boat projects
to multiple builds, like PCT's Premier 45
performance cruising yacht, nominated
European Yacht of the Year.
- Rail: this fast-developing business unit
has a bright future ahead and is currently
involved in a bid phase for new projects
within the region.
- Aerospace: this new and upcoming
division recently won a contract to manufacture core shapes for aircraft flap track
fairings. Flap track fairings are composite
'jackets' that sit beneath the wing of an aircraft and provide an aerodynamic covering
for the hydraulic mechanisms.
- Renewable Energies: this new and
developing business unit is active in the

prototype panel measuring approximately
13m2. This was structurally built using a fire
resistant sandwich of glass fibre and epoxy
resin combined with a lightweight foam
core that was then finished with fire resistant
resin and stainless steel coloured tiles. PCT
has completed the production of 2,048
of these panels to complete the 26,400m2
surface area of the Medinah station roof.
PCT's strength lies to a large extent in its
capacity to adapt, thanks to its design and
engineering department with a team of
more than 40 people. This is of primordial
interest, as each request is unique. PCT
specializes in customized projects, so it has
also developed consulting activities with
architect and design bureaus to provide
them with support for their ideas.

H.W.: PCT has ambitious plans for conti-

nuous expansion, and investment in new
technologies allows our company to serve a
global customer base.
All facilities are air-conditioned and
climate-controlled to provide the correct
environment for the advanced chemicals
and materials used, and to achieve high
accuracy measurements.

parts required, along with the budget and
lead times for tooling, PCT can offer a
range of processing methods and finishes

of composites
The company's dynamism also relies on its
ability to convince. The building & construction sector is not necessarily the most
receptive to composite materials - but PCT
has managed to put forward the specific
advantages of these materials and the benefits of using them in that sector:
- new aesthetic possibilities due to the ability
to mould complex, fluid and creative forms
and produce more efficient geometric
shapes,
- the ability to integrate special surface
finishes and a wide variety of unusual effects,
including simulating traditional materials,
- huge weight savings (an advanced-composite cladding model can typically weigh as
little as 10% of its concrete equivalent),
- rapid installation, enabling time and cost

H.W.: To be recognized as a leading global
supplier and manufacturer of advanced
composite components for the architectural design, transportation and boatbuilding
markets.
JCM: What are the next steps in your development?

H.W.: The next steps are to develop the
new business sectors of aerospace and
renewable energies, establish and maintain
PCT as a preferred supplier and manufacturer of advanced composite components
for existing industry sectors, and reinforce
and differentiate the brand positioning of
PCT's Marine and Rail divisions through
ongoing global marketing that highlights
PCT's unique capabilities. n
