Hyundai and Kia announce a €100M
investment in electric vehicle company Arrival
The investment marks the start of a strategic partnership
between the automakers to jointly accelerate the adoption
of commercial electric vehicles globally. Hyundai and Kia
will use key Arrival technologies to help achieve their
recently announced goal to develop mobility services and
electrify their vehicle
fleets.
Arrival is reimagining
vehicle design and
assembly to create
Generation 2 Electric
Vehicle
that
are
assembled using small
footprint microfactories, located in areas of demand and
profitable at thousands of units. Headquartered in London
with over 800 employees in 5 countries Arrival is vertically
integrated, and has created in-house software, components,
sustainable materials and modular skateboard platforms.

Faurecia wins major contract for Hyundai trucks
Faurecia will supply the entire hydrogen storage system (including
10,000 hydrogen tanks) which will be produced in its global center
of expertise dedicated to hydrogen storage systems in Bavans,
France with delivery to start in 2021. Over a four-year period,
Faurecia will equip around 1,600 Hyundai heavy duty trucks that will
be afterwards delivered to Hyundai Hydrogen Mobility in Switzerland,
a newly-created joint venture between Hyundai and H2 Energy to
spearhead hydrogen mobility in Europe.
Fuel-cell electric vehicles offer an attractive and complementary
alternative to battery
electric vehicles. The range
and refueling time of
fuel-cell trucks should be
equivalent to diesel ones
whilst being completely
emissions-free. By 2030, it
is estimated that 2 million
new vehicles of which 350,000 commercial vehicles will be equipped
with fuel cell technology.

Gurit announces the sale of the full equity in Gurit Hungary Kft
to Carbopress S.p.A., an Italian based advanced composite parts
manufacturer. On October 29th, 2019 Gurit announced to close
the automotive business in summer 2020 following a divestment
process which did not result in a transaction. Subsequently,
Carbopress expressed interest in acquiring the business which lead
ultimately to the sale. The signing and closing of the transaction
occurred concurrently. The parties have agreed silence over the
selling price. Gurit Hungary employs 144 staff members. The
transaction is P&L and cash neutral to Gurit.

Frimo and Hennecke form a strategic partnership in
polyurethane solutions for automotive
The companies are forming a strong
international partnership in the sector
of polyurethane and other reactive
plastic applications for the automotive
industry. The partnership concerns
only the products and systems
associated with the production of passenger cars.
Both companies focus on core competences. Frimo is contributing
its core competences from the areas of moulded foam, elastomers and
composites. Frimo will also offer the entire spare parts sales for the
affected product areas. Hennecke's contribution to the partnership
will be metering and mixhead technology as well as all other systems
for handling the raw materials - storage, transportation, preparation and
processing - for the automotive sector. Hennecke will also supply the
periphery equipment required for the respective case of application. As
a polyurethane specialist, Hennecke will focus on its core competences
in high and low pressure metering in the form of individual metering
machines outside of the automotive sector, as well as systems technology
in the production of refrigeration units, slabstock products and sandwich
panels.
