An advantageous material
The Xencor™ LFT compounds from
Solvay made it possible for Stajvelo to
design the first electric bicycle using
advanced injection molded composite materials. Xencor™ compounds
are formulated using specialty polymers and engineering polymers,
including: polyphenylene sulphide
(PPS); polyphthalamide (PPA);
polyarylamide (PARA); high-performance polyamide (HPPA); and
polyamide 66 (PA66). Each formulation is specifically designed to
achieve maximum synergy between:
high performance, design freedom,
functions integration, weight reduction and per-part cost economy
through fast cycle times. In this particular case, long fiber polyarylamide
(PARA) compounds are used.
In general, Xencor™ LFT compounds contain anywhere from 30
to 60% reinforced fibers depending
on the polymer and the grade. The
function of LFTs is to create, during the injection molding process, a
unique three-dimensional, entangled
long glass fiber network inside the
molded part. This glass fiber network
really forms a strong fiber skeleton,
which ensures optimal dimensional

stability and significantly improves
the thermal-mechanical properties,
when compared to traditional, highly
filled short-fiber plastics.
The Xencor™ LFT compounds aim
to fill the void between short fiber
thermoplastic materials (SFT) and
advanced composite materials, in
terms of price and performance.
They are characterised by high stiffness, outstanding crash and impact
resistance, remarkable thermal stability, very low creep, and a perfect
surface appearance, Solvay adds.
Technology in all simplicity
Stajvelo takes pride, and quite rightly,
in having created a new generation of
electric bikes, putting technologies
to work that had never been used in
this field - and even less so for urban bikes. This translates into a new
design for the braking system using
hydraulic discs, to allow greater control and stability, particularly in the
event of emergency braking. The
handlebars from Baramind are flexible downwards and rigid upwards,
absorbing shocks and guaranteeing
perfect handling just like the frame,
whose directional effect and original
geometry provide real assistance for
turns and steering.
Moreover, designed by an expert in

able for all body types. Whether 5'3"
or 6'7", the pedalling position is optimal and comfort unrivalled.
Riders don't even have to change
gears, since pedalling is completely
assisted up to 25 km/h. The gears
change automatically, and when
stopped, it shifts into the lowest
gear. Thanks to the 48V-Revolution
engine from Continental, the first
e-bike motor to offer a fully integrated stepless automatic transmission,
taking off again is an ease. The RV01
is also fitted with a carbon belt, easier
to use than an oil-covered chain that
must constantly be replaced. The
rims are cast in one piece, making
them easy to disassemble, and easy
to maintain.
And if you forget where you've
parked your RV01, the geolocation system will find its precise location via an application (iOS and
Android). A second application
provides extensive information on
battery autonomy, distance covered,
and even the average speed, GPS,
and health and weather-related data.
All of which can be viewed on a
smartphone, or the display installed
on the RV01 handlebars, Stajvelo
points out.
