There are three billion gamers in the world, if results from all the
digital platforms for video games are totalled. This figure has been
put forth by DFC Intelligence, specialist in the sector, which took a
census not only of gamers on PC and the game consoles currently
available, but also those who play on a smartphone or tablet.
DFC Intelligence's report also tallies the people who play on social
media or via Internet browsers. In all, 40% of the planet's inhabitants play one of these games at least occasionally. According to
the authors, only people who play paid games were counted.
