The Massivit 10000 is a large-volume additive manufacturing system
that shifts the paradigm for large tooling by significantly shortening
mould-production time, using Massivit 3D's Cast-In-Motion (CIM) technology.
Erez Zimmerman, CEO, explains how Massivit's latest additive
manufacturing system is designed to meet the tooling requirements of
the automotive, aerospace, marine, and energy industries, which require
large parts made of composite materials.

recently introduced your latest
innovation, the Massivit 10000.
What differentiates it from the
existing AM industrial solutions?
Erez Zimerman: Excellent
question for us to start with.
There are, of course, many differentiating
factors within the Massivit
10000 that set it apart from
existing solutions. Yet, how can I
not begin by mentioning the astounding
speed advantage? The
technology in the Massivit 10000
printer enables the production
of moulds in days - instead of
weeks. This alone is enough to

turn the industry on its head.
A key technological differentiator
that enables this speed advantage
is our new Cast-In-Motion
(CIM) technology. CIM enables
us to print photopolymer hollow
structures that can be filled
with almost any casting material.
Our first casting material is designed
specifically for composite
mould-making and it really
changes the way moulds are produced.
We developed the material
to be a much better fit for composite
moulding than just about
anything else on the additive
manufacturing (AM) market.
This means using thermosets that
withstand very high temperatures
with a solid coefficient of thermal
expansion (CTE), and isotropy.
Producing moulds is generally
expensive in time and money.
How does your new Massivit

10000 answer these limitations
with regard to tooling?
E. Z.: You have surely heard the
phrase " time is money " and in
this case, it is very appropriate.
Creating a mould with conventional
methods requires weeks
of production. It is typically a
19-step journey to have a mould
created. This is a long process that
necessitates a great deal of labour
costs. The Massivit 10000 cuts
this timeline drastically. Instead
of 19 steps, it takes four. Instead
of weeks, it takes days. This is
an immense savings in terms of
time, but also in terms of money
due to the severe reduction in labour
requirements. In addition to
saving time, and the inherent cost
savings from that, our system also
requires less material and outputs
less waste, offering even more
savings.
