Teijin Automotive Technologies breaks ground
for Huntington, Indiana, facility expansion
Teijin Automotive Technologies
purchased 30 acres in the new
Riverfork West Industrial Center
and will be building a 164,400
square-foot facility on this site to
house a new paint line and assembly
capabilities. This facility will be
located across Indiana Highway 9 from the company's existing
350,000 square-foot manufacturing facility. The new facility is
expected to be complete, including all equipment installation,
by December 2023, and will employ approximately 110 people
when operations begin in April 2024, and more than 200 at full
employment.

acquires Solvay's TegraCore™ foam
Airex® TegraCore™ is a lightweight recyclable
polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) thermoplastic foam with
outstanding fire-retardant properties for complex
shapes in environmental demanding conditions.
3A Composites Core Materials has agreed to acquire
Solvay's TegraCore™ PPSU resin-based foam that will
become part of the portfolio under the name Airex®
TegraCore™. Both companies agreed to continue
their collaboration in further development of Airex®
TegraCore™.

Owens Corning to acquire WearDeck®
,
a composite decking and structural lumber manufacturer
WearDeck products offer a long-lasting, strong, and durable
solution for weather-resistant decking. This decking can
be used for both commercial and residential applications,
given its mechanical performance and lower lifetime costs
compared with conventional composite decking. Using
proprietary technology and processes, WearDeck products
are manufactured from high-density polyethylene (HDPE)
leveraging Owens Corning's glass fiber technology, delivering
a high-performance product that is stronger than most other
decking options. The transaction is anticipated to close by the
end of the second quarter.

Joby receives Part 135 certificate from the FAA
Joby Aviation, Inc., a
California-based company
developing all-electric
aircraft for commercial
passenger service, announced
the company has received
a Part 135 Air Carrier Certificate from the Federal Aviation
Administration, allowing Joby to begin on-demand commercial
air taxi operations. Certification allows Joby to operate aircraft
commercially; Joby will use conventional aircraft to refine systems
and procedures in advance of launching eVTOL service targeted
for 2024.

Cotesa selects Airborne to supply
a fully automated edge sealing system
Cotesa selected Airborne to supply
a robotic production system to
automate its edge sealing operation
for complex, 3D composite parts.
The Automated Edge Sealing
system will ensure a constant
quality during production and
drastically reduce the amount of manual labour. The system uses
the Automated Programming technology of Airborne, which
translates the 3D part design directly into the machine instructions
and process settings, on-the-fly and without the need of any robot
programming.
