Sinopec breathes new life into Kangde Composites
Sinopec Group Capital Co., Ltd. (Sinopec Capital) formally acquired a 49.9% stake in Langfang Feize Composite Materials
Technology Co., Ltd. (Feize Technology). The company indirectly controls Kangde Composites.
Started in 2016 in Langfang High-tech Zone, Hebei province, Kangde Composites was among the fi rst companies in China
to mass produce and supply carbon fi bre to the automotive sec-tor, with carbon fi bre manufacturing orders from NIO, BAIC,
and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
At the beginning of 2019, Kangde Composites was affected by the break of the capital chain of its parent company Kangde
Investment Group, and production was suspended for a time. The Langfang High-tech Zone Management Committee allocated
10 million yuan from the government's special bailout funds to a wholly state-owned company and established a joint
venture with Hubei Changjiang NIO Capital to set up Feize Company, leasing Kangde Composites' assets to maintain its
production process.
In July 2021, according to the reorganization plan approved by the Langfang Intermediate People's Court, Feize invested in
Kangde Composites and the real investor, Sinopec Capital, indirectly invested in Kangde Composites by investing in Feize
Technology.
According to a transaction agreement signed in March 2022, Sinopec Capital will entrust Shanghai Petrochemical Investment,
a wholly-owned subsidiary of Shanghai Petrochemical (SPC), to exercise the management rights of Feize Technology.
" SPC is a subsidiary of Sinopec, and it is also one of the leading companies in carbon fi bre R&D and production in China.
Feize's technology and talent advantages in the fi eld of carbon fi bre composite materials are what we value. In the future,
we will further increase our R&D efforts to expand the application fi elds. Our goal is to become a leading producer of carbon
fi bre composite materials in China " , said Gu Chaoran, deputy chief engineer of SPC and chairman of Feize Technology.
