FLUORESCENT PIGMENT PASTES

Canplast showcases it fluorescent colourants for polyurea, polyurethane, polyester, fibreglass, gelcoats and epoxy systems. The usage
amount for the total formulation is 0.5-3%.
Advantages:
* Only one type of fluorescent pigment paste is enough to colour polyurea, polyurethane, polyester, fibreglass, gelcoats and epoxy systems,
therefore reducing costs;
* A small amount (0.5-3%) is sufficient to obtain the required colour;
* Vivid and bright colours;
* Phthalate-free and heavy metal-free;
* Odourless and solvent-free;
* 12-month shelf life.

Painting is one of the most time-consuming and HSE-concerned processes in the composite manufacturing industry. The application of liquid
paint generates waste and damages workers' health. Surface preparation, combined with drying times, is a real bottleneck while production rates
need to be improved every day.
Corso Magenta is a pioneering SME that is re-inventing paint as a new, green generation of functional films. The company's patented process
transforms liquid paints into dry films. Any paint can be used without modifying the original formula: epoxy/PU-based primers and topcoats.
Already qualified paints or proprietary formulations are used to ensure the global performance of the system.
The paint films can be self-supported or complexed with additional layers:
- Glass, carbon, aramid, PEEK fibres can be semi-impregnated in the paint to reinforce interfacial strength;
- Bronze mesh to provide integrated lightning strike protection;
- Protective film or peel ply to facilitate demoulding and ensure adequate surface roughness;
- Resistive layer to generate heating as close as possible to the external surface;
- Electromagnetic shielding layer for RF applications.
This is a breakthrough technology to lower paint-related investments, reduce environmental impacts, shorten composite manufacturing cycle times, and

Composite materials often combine polymers with natural products, but compatibility problems can occur because the material types are
different in polarity and properties.
Flame retardants (e.g. ATH, APP, MDH) can make the combination of these materials even more difficult as they prevent cross-linking and
reduce mechanical strength. The new polymeric flame retardants are different by nature due to their non-ionic structure and molecular weight.
This new FR technology shows good compatibility for integration in polymer structures. What is more, cross-linkers can be reacted with natural fibres
and polymeric flame retardants. Polymeric FR adhere to both material classes - polymers and cellulosics - and create bridges between non-polar
polymers and natural fibres or fillers. They can be the missing link for composite materials that have to pass flammability tests and provide good

Re-usable vacuum bags (RVB) allow the fast and easy application and sealing of a vacuum bag on a mould. With the Mosites high-performance,
high-elongation silicon rubber, various types of bags, membranes and bladders can be produced for multiple uses, with a possible lifespan
of several hundred cycles.
These custom-shaped and tailored bags can be optimised for three-dimensional fit to the mould and part geometry for
various uses both in and out of an autoclave. They are ideal for multiple debulking steps, forming, bonding or curing of
highly-contoured parts on composite or metal moulds. The flexible, well-adapted membrane accurately fits both the
part and mould.
Integrated pressure intensifiers, vacuum valves, thermocouple ports and venting channels ensure a proper vacuum and
pressure distribution and increased functionality - supplied to the customer ready to use.
Various integrated sealing options allow easy and fast opening and closing of the bag. Also, double-membrane
envelopes for flat or slightly curved panels are used in aerospace and industrial composite applications.
Some automated processes still require a preparation of preforms. Debulking or hot forming stations using flat highelongation membranes allow the fast, repetitive and reproducible execution of this process step. www.aero-consultants.ch
