Improving a Professional Sports
Arena's Communications Capabilities
Home to the Boston Bruins and Celtics, TD Garden,
equipment locations throughout the building that feed
a 19,600-seat sports and concert arena in Boston,
back to a 10th floor head-end data center via fiber optic
Massachusetts, needed improvements to its wireless
cable. Designs included two, 30-ton split-system HVAC
communications system. The goal was to increase
units with an overhead duct system, an 800-amp power
access to high-capacity wireless voice and data services
panel distribution design, steel condenser support frame,
to the arena's nearly 3.5 million annual visitors while
and overhead structural cabling support. Additionally,
consolidating all wireless carriers to a common
Dewberry redesigned multiple wireless carriers' macro
location. In response, Dewberry aided in the design and
antennas systems to allow for a wider range of coverage
implementation of a Neutral Host Distributed Antenna
outside of the arena, including the parking lot and
System (DAS), which consisted of remote antenna and
adjacent roads.
Dewberry integrated micro antennas into
strategic locations around the arena for better
wireless services, while making them blend
seamlessly with the arena decor.
