IAMA is a not-for-profit association that addresses aircraft owner and operator concerns regarding documentation and data availability for aircraft modifications. The Association's membership offers a worldwide customer support network across different regional regulatory systems. The main objectives of IAMA are: * Define and commit to common standards for the documentation and quality of STCs * To establish an available, secure documentation platform for airline customers and aircraft owners using STCs * To inform the relevant public and expert communities about the advantages of STCapproved solutions. 42 * T H E O F F I C I A L P U B L I C AT I O N O F I S TAT and the STC holder (the Design Approval Holder), e.g., in case of in-service problems * Clear contractual ownership of the STC, especially in the FAA-related context where the current operator might be the STC holder * That the preceding usage rights are also guaranteed to the aircraft owner, so transfer planning can be done in advance, without a future operator having yet been identified One of the major hurdles to overcome in these transactions is how to assure the new operator that already installed modifications may continue to be used and operated when the contracting partner was a prior operator. Regulatory Requirements The STC holder is required by regulation to provide all installation data and maintenance documents needed to modify and maintain the aircraft to the operator contracting the modification. In addition to these documents, FAA 14 CFR Part 21.120 requires an STC holder to provide use of an STC to alter the aircraft.
