A Moment of Thanks

appy New Year
to all of our
membership.
I would like to
wish you all a
very successful
and joyous start
to the new decade. Looking back
briefly, I am delighted to say that we
had an eventful end to 2019. The Latin
America Forum held in Buenos Aires on
13-14 November was another success.
This region remains one of significant
importance to our sector, ISTAT and
our membership. We look forward to
continuing to build on this Forum over
the coming years with our great friends
in the region.
Thank you to everyone who turned
out at the various holiday receptions in
early December. We had great numbers
again and, from some of the photos
and stories, it certainly sounded like
everyone had a great time connecting
with their industry colleagues and
friends. View the recap on page 30.

Getting the sages of aviation finance, airlines and
manufacturers to impart their knowledge to our next
leaders through ISTAT PDP is an invaluable tool.
Thank you also to those who
attended our first NFL Playoff Party
in Dublin and our Chinese New Year
reception in Singapore, 19 January
and 6 February, respectively. I was
delighted to see so many friends there,
and we look forward to continuing to
offer our members the best networking
opportunities throughout the year.

2020 is a big year for ISTAT. One
of the key pillars of my presidency
is education. With that in mind,
we have the ISTAT Professional
Development Program kicking off
in Dublin this spring. I would like to
thank everyone who applied to the
course and pass on my best wishes to
our inaugural class. Education is the
bedrock of any industry, and getting
the sages of aviation finance, airlines
and manufacturers to impart their
knowledge to our next leaders is an
invaluable tool. As such, I would like to
thank Nils Hallerstrom, Dick Forsberg
and the amazing group of lecturers
who will partake in the course.
Without you, none of this would
be possible.
As most of you should be aware,
we recently voted on the new
executive positions for ISTAT. These
officers will take their positions in
March 2021. As such, I would like
to give a special mention to Dean
Gerber, who will take over from me
as president. In addition, we will
have two women represented at the
executive level: Marilyn Gan and Mary
Prettyman. This is the first time ISTAT
has had two women in executive
leadership, a good indicator of the
progress we are trying to make in
diversity and inclusion.
