I wanted to be sure that my team knew that their jobs were safe and that the company
could survive through the difficult period.
for sure, post-pandemic, the leasing
community will grow exponentially.
Jetrader: Although we're in tough
times now, is there anything that
excites you about where the industry
is heading?
AM: Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic,
the industry was in a really good place.
It seems that the whole ecosystem
was doing well, especially the airlines.
They had really done well with capacity
discipline and tight management and
optimization of their CASM. As a result
of the airlines doing well on margins,
we all benefited. What excites me is

that their business model is sound, so
the recovery map is set. We just need
to get things rolling again and airlines
will be back on road to profitability.
Jetrader: What tips would you share
as CEO of a global aviation company
in terms of staff motivation and
adapting to the new world of work
post-COVID-19?
AM: Early in the pandemic, a
mentor reminded me that I would be
remembered for all of my actions during
and exiting the pandemic and to be sure
that I thought through every move. This
really hit me, and I immediately knew

what I needed to do - communicate,
communicate, communicate. In the
absence of information, people tend to

period. I also needed to share that with
our vendors, who were relying on us to
sustain their business, but especially
to our customers and partners who
needed to know that we were going
to be there for the long haul. Looking
ahead, post-pandemic, I frankly don't
see much changing. I don't believe our
industry does well in a work-from-home
