he ISTAT
Foundation Grants
Program supports
aviation-related,
nongovernmental,
not-for-profit
organizations
around the world that help advance
commercial aviation. In the last
14 years, the Grants Program has
awarded close to US$1.2 million to 64
organizations spanning the globe. In
2021, the ISTAT Foundation was proud
to award a total of US$105,000 to 14
organizations in four countries.
Eddo Weijer has been a member of
the Grants Committee since 2014 and
assumed the position of chair this year.
" While our budget has increased over
the years, on average, the total grants
requested from 30-40 organizations
annually exceeds that budget, so the
committee must be very selective, "

The Grants Committee has provided assistance to
international nonprofit organizations that ... make aviation
accessible to less privileged students and children.
Weijer says. The Grants Committee

privileged students and children.
" We want to continue our support
to those organizations that have made
a difference, and the Foundation
endeavors to have an international
footprint, supporting organizations
around the world evenly, " Weijer
says. What follows is a closer look
at three of the 14 organizations and
their incredible missions the ISTAT
Foundation supported in 2021.
The Intrepid Museum
The Intrepid Museum Foundation is
well known for the aircraft carrier
museum in New York City. Can you
provide some background on the
Museum's Aviation Science and
History Program and how the ISTAT
Foundation grant contributes to
this initiative?
The museum has a collection of 29
aircraft, including a British Airways
