ISTAT NFL Playoff Party in Dublin +
ISTAT Chinese New Year Reception in Singapore

O

n 19 January 2020, ISTAT is hosting
an NFL playoff party in Dublin. Free to
all members, the casual gathering will
kick off at 17:30 with everything you
might expect at an American football
party. While we can't yet know who will
be in the playoffs (or the Super Bowl on
2 February 2020), we do know it will
be a rousing time.

to Dublin. This will be a fun environment
to catch up with friends of the industry
and a chance to have a nice, relaxed run
into the hectic Dublin conferences."

A

s we usher in the Year of the Rat
(according to the Chinese zodiac) at
ISTAT's Chinese New Year reception
on 6 February 2020, guests will
experience Chinese New Year
traditions such as Yusheng or Lo Hei
and be entertained by a traditional
lion dance. Yusheng is a typical dish served only during the
Chinese New Year where festivities traditionally last for 15
days. The dish - consisting of raw fish and a medley of
shredded vegetables served with a variety of sauces and
condiments - is considered a symbol of abundance and
prosperity. Diners will gather to toss the Yusheng using
chopsticks (the higher you toss, the more growth in fortune
you will have) while saying auspicious wishes aloud.
The lion dance, accompanied by the loud beating of
cymbals and drums, will add to the revelry and serve to ward
off evil and usher in prosperity in the New Year.
This will be the first time that ISTAT will be hosting a
Chinese New Year reception and represents a move by the
organization toward catering to its members across the globe.
We hope to see many of you at the event in the New Year!
