Boeing's levers for sustainable aviation.
For her part, Cormican discussed
Airbus' " new-generation aircraft for a
new era. " Airbus is expecting around
39,500 deliveries between 2022 and
2041, with Asia Pacific and PRC as
one of the biggest markets. She also
discussed the company's strategic
approach to decarbonization, which
includes new-generation aircraft,
disruptive technologies, offsetting and
efficient operations to reduce fuel burn,
among other strategies.
The second to last session of the
day was the Appraisers Panel, which
was moderated by Angus Mackay,
principal at ICF, and included Jian Zhu,
engagement manager at Alton Aviation
Consultancy; Jason Bewley, executive
vice president and head of marketing
at Magi Aviation Capital; and Olga
Razzhivina, director at Oriel.
The final panel of the day,
" Where Are Lessors On The Road To

Recovery? " , was moderated by Marilyn
Gan, senior vice president and head of
Asia Pacific at Vmo Aircraft Leasing,
and included Steven Townend, deputy
managing director and chief financial
officer at BOC Aviation; David Swan,
chief operating officer at SMBC Aviation
Capital; Mamoun Kuzbari, managing
director at Novus Aviation Capital (UK)
Ltd.; and Jeff Chatfield, executive
chairman at Avation PLC. The group
discussed travel demand and airline
recovery in Asia, lease rates, ESG and
cargo, among other topics.
The day's events ended with the
Women@ISTAT event, which featured
Yap Mun Ching, chief sustainability
officer at AirAsia and executive director
at AirAsia Foundation. Following that
was the Networking Reception at
Dempsey Cookhouse and Bar.
Day Three
The second day of panel discussions
began with the presentation, " The
Economist's View, " from Adam
Pilarski, Ph.D., senior vice president of
consulting at AVITAS Inc. He covered
the topics of economic trade-offs, Black
Swan events, how to predict the future
in aviation, traffic recovery, China and
the coming recession.
The day's panels kicked off with
" Rethinking Aviation in a Post-COVID
World, " which was moderated by
independent adviser Bertrand Grabowski.
