Klug joins AMAG from Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals, where she completed a number of significant transactions, including two corporate development transactions within six months of Mallinckrodt's spin out of Covidien. Daniel K. Spiegelman, executive vice president and chief financial officer of BioMarin Pharmaceutical, has been elected to the Relypsa, board of directors. Also joining the board is Kenneth J. Hillan, president and chief executive officer of Achaogen. B. BRAUN B. Braun Medical U.S. and CeGaT GmbH have established a U.S.-based company to enter the U.S. diagnostics market. The new company, B. Braun CeGaT, LLC, is based in B. Braun Medical's Bethlehem, PA, headquarters. GLAXOSMITHKLINE Codexis has signed a platform technology license agreement with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). Codexis granted GSK a license to use Codexis' proprietary CodeEvolver protein engineering platform technology in the field of human healthcare. INFORMA Informa Training Partners has been awarded the New England Chapter American Medical Writers Association (AMWA) 2014 Will Solimene Award for Excellence in Medical Communication for two new training programs. "The Business of Oncology" and "Understanding Accountable Care Organizations: An Evolving Customer Category" were recognized for outstanding work in medical, biomedical and health communication. MERCK MorphoSys AG and Merck have signed an agreement to discover and develop therapeutic antibodies against undisclosed immune checkpoints. MorphoSys and Merck Serono, the biopharmaceutical division of Merck, will join forces to develop therapies that modulate the immune system's natural ability to fight tumors. QSTREAM Qstream announced that its game-based mobile platform is being used by American Medical Systems (AMS), a subsidiary of Endo International, to help sales reps remember what they need to know for effective selling. AMS has launched its sixth Qstream initiative in support of the company's prostate health product line. SANOFI Aastrom Biosciences has completed its acquisition of Sanofi's cell therapy and regenerative medicine (CTRM) business unit. Aastrom paid $4 million in cash and $2.5 million in a promissory note to acquire the CTRM business, which includes three marketed products in the United States and Europe as well as manufacturing and production centers in the United States and Denmark. Sanofi and Medtronic also have signed a memorandum of understanding to enter into a global strategic alliance in diabetes, aimed at improving patient experience and outcomes for people with diabetes around the world.
